In 1995, Phanatik became a solo artist after he and Enock's rap group, The Righteous Gang, broke up. Natik was still developing his unique style of delivery, reflecting the evangelistic conversations that were taking place on the streets of Philadelphia with unbelievers, black nationalist, pan-African, and 5 Percent rappers and preachers.

Hear him experiment with wordplay and conceptualizing his faith on "Highway to Heaven" and lament over the way God has been forgotten, even by his own people on "Naw." Listen as he broadcasts the Good News on "Headlines." Peep the more polished flow on "Man-up" and his free-style for Dj Essence. Followed by the charge given for "kings" to "ride out" and war against the flesh on the song "War, King".
