Like a movie with an alternate ending, this is a different version of the song that made the History album. When I first recorded this verse for the group song, they responded that it was too lyrically acrobatic. They wanted something simpler.

Now, if you know me, you know I don't do simple. So, I decided to challenge myself to write a simple verse, but to do some complex things behind the scenes. I decided to try to see if could make my verse match Ambassador's in syllable count and vowel sound/rhyme-scheme. If you listen to the album version of the song, pay attention to Amba's verse and my own, you'll see what I was doing for the first 4 - 6 bars.

Also, Ambassador had an alternate verse on the song that did not make the album. You can hear a snippet of it here. Notice that I also co-opted a bit of his last bar of his alternate verse as well.
